For Your Next TMJ Treatment, Visit Our Bradenton Chiropractic Clinic!

We don't pretend to treat your well-being, we're at the forefront of all chiropractic care treatments at Lakewood Ranch Chiropractic. Our doctor is highly skilled and versed in the ins and outs of TMJ. What is TMJ? Temporomandibular joint syndrome is a pain in the jaw joint that can be extremely uncomfortable and caused by numerous conditions. Our Bradenton clinic provides TMJ treatment for patients who are experiencing facial muscles that appear to be not functioning correctly and subsequently feeling inflamed when chewing.

The symptoms of TMJ

Every head and neck pain, or facial pain, ear pain, headaches, or problems with biting and chewing might be a result of TMJ. There tends to be a clicking or popping sound when the mouth opens and closes to bite down or chew. The jawbone itself has two functions, either a rotation or a hinge action, which are controlled by TMJ. When you open your mouth wide to yawn or speak or sing, the muscles, blood, nerves, and bones of the TMJ are activated.

Following are significant symptoms of TMJ:

  • Pain in the facial muscles or jaw joints that may radiate down the neck and shoulders
  • Ringing in the ears, and oftentimes hearing loss
  • Grating or popping sounds which signifies the disc is in an abnormal position
  • Facial or mouth swelling on the affected side
  • Muscles spasms causing difficulties with swallowing
  • Lockjaw in a wide-open position which indicates a dislocation in the jaw joint

Request your appointment today if any of the above signs and symptoms appear

You'll know when it's time to see a doctor if the symptoms are noticeable. Causes of TMJ can range from trauma (teeth grinding or blunt force to the jaw joint) to osteoarthritis, to rheumatoid arthritis, and in more severe cases, cancer or a bone deformity since birth.

Contact our Bradenton clinic today and schedule an appointment with a member of our caring staff. We're here to offer relief and TMJ treatment in a highly comfortable environment. Don't wait until it's too late!
