When it comes to chiropractic care and insurance benefits, every insurance company and policy is different. Typically, however, you are permitted to a certain number of wellness visits and treatment visits per calendar year. A calendar year refers to the span of January 1st through December 31st.

Some possible chiropractic treatments and benefits that could be covered under your insurance policy include postural and spinal screenings and certain treatments, such as:

• chiropractic care
• spinal decompression for pain relief
• massage therapy/physical therapy
• personal injury treatment
• auto accident injury treatment
• work injury treatment
• sports injury treatment

Of course, it is recommended that you check with your insurance company directly to find out what's covered and what co-pays/deductibles may apply.

If you fail to utilize your benefits by the end of the year, they will generally not roll over into the next year. Instead, they'll go to waste. Even if you have a non-traditional insurance plan (such as a Health Savings Account), there is a good chance that your benefits and dollars may not roll over into the next calendar year.

With that being said, you are strongly encouraged to take advantage of those insurance benefits for which you're paying. If you haven't scheduled your annual wellness screening or other covered service, it's not too late. However, you'll want to schedule your appointments as soon as possible, as remaining time slots are limited.
