How We Treat Your Auto Accident Injuries

car nearly colliding into other carManual manipulation of the spine is one of the most effective techniques performed by Dr. Phillips on auto accident victims suffering whiplash, misaligned vertebrae, irritated peripheral nerves or muscle inflammation. Core chiropractic treatments such as adjustments, therapeutic massage and spinal decompression not only relieves pain and inflammation but also restores range of motion and significantly improves your quality of life without resorting to prescription pain medications or surgery.

Chiropractic Adjustment

Dr. Phillips performs a spinal adjustment by applying short, high velocity thrusts to affected areas of the spine. This causes release of joint gases (carbon dioxide, oxygen and nitrogen) which produces a characteristic "popping" sound. Alleviating pressure within spinal vertebrae (referred to as “cavitation”) reduces back pain and allows you to walk, bend and sit normally without experiencing discomfort.

Deep Tissue Massage Therapy

This special form of therapeutic massage improves blood flow to affected muscles and ligaments while relieving tightness and promoting new cell growth. Auto accident victims further benefit from the ability of a deep tissue massage to reduce hypertension, anxiety and depression caused by a traumatic car crash as the massage also triggers release of serotonin and oxytocin, two hormones responsible for mood elevation and relaxation.

Myofascial Release

Dr. Phillips may recommend myofascial release therapy for relaxing constricted muscles, stimulating lymphatic and blood circulation and reducing inflammation of damaged muscles. The term “fascia” refers to soft tissue components comprising connective tissues designed to support many structures in the body, especially the muscles. When fascia experiences damage due to trauma, overuse or psychogenic disease, the tissue responds by becoming painful and stiffening joints. In addition, diminished blood flow to injured fascia inhibits oxygen molecules from reaching fascia and muscles, resulting in cell death and chronic inflammation.

Spinal Decompression

Decompression therapy relieves back and whiplash pain by "unloading" or decompressing lumbar and cervical joints and discs. By gently and repetitively stretching your spine, pressure is taken off irritated spinal nerves causing pain.
